Description

A most impressive 1930's five bedroomed detached house set in a garden and grounds extending to 2 Acres in a premier location on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills with superb far reaching views across Herefordshire to the Welsh Mountains

Location & Description

Brockhill Road is situated in West Malvern approximately two miles from the well served village of Colwall and a similar distance from the cultural spa town of Great Malvern where there is a comprehensive range of amenities including shops and banks, Waitrose supermarket, the renowned theatre and cinema complex and the Splash leisure pool and gymnasium. Transport communications are excellent. There are mainline railway stations in Great Malvern, Malvern Link and Colwall all within a three mile radius. Junction 7 of the M5 motorway at Worcester is about nine miles and Junction 2 of the M50 near Ledbury is approximately twelve miles. The property is well placed for access to some of the best schools in the region at both primary and secondary levels and in the private and state sectors including The Downs and Elms Preparatory Schools in Colwall, Malvern College and Malvern St James Girls School and The Chase and Dyson Perrins High Schools in Malvern.

Brockhill is a superb family home which was constructed in 1930 for the Cadbury family, by the renowned local builder James of Colwall and designed by the Architect responsible for the Bournville village. Brockhill Road is on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills, and is considered to be one of the most desirable locations in the area. The charming Art Deco property has remained almost unchanged since the 1930's and has only had five families as occupiers. It retains most of its period features, including a fine oak staircase, panelled wooden doors, oak panelling and flooring in the sitting/dining room, original fireplaces, picture rails , even some of the original 1930's light fittings. Gas central heating is installed and some of the windows are double glazed, but the majority are the original Crittall windows. The rooms are of generous proportions and briefly comprise two excellent reception rooms, snug/study, breakfast kitchen, laundry room, and cloakroom/boot room on the ground floor. The original house had seven bedrooms, but two rooms have been knocked through to create five, one of which has an ensuite bathroom. There is also a shower room, bathroom and W.C on the first floor. On the second floor is an excellent, large hobbies/games room. Brockhill is set in a garden with adjoining paddock and tennis court which extends to 2 Acres. The westerly views from the house and garden are exceptional, and the house was constructed so that nearly all the rooms have the benefit of these remarkable views
